I'm thinking about getting the Massdrop Vast ( http://ift.tt/2w7hnnq ) but I wanted to get some other opinions/options. My PC is good, a I7 6700K (@stock speed) and a 1080Ti primary use is Gaming and, rarely some photo editing and digital art as well.
My primary monitor is an Asus VS 228H, which is... bad. But I also have a 4k TV (That I use for movies and some local co-op games, a Sceptre U505CV-UMC) and a Chimei CMV 221D that is just for iTunes/webpages. I guess I would replace both the Asus and Chimei with the Vast if I got it. I don't think I have the desk space to keep the Asus.. Unless I got a gas piston desk arm mount for it, which I probably would do....
Anyhow the Vast looks good to me, and its an upgrade to what I have and is close to what I want. I'm not doing any serious competitive online gaming so the 2ms response time is fine. I guess I've worried about the close to 4k native rez (how far off from true 4k is it?). I won't be able to upgrade the 1080Ti for some time and newer games are only going to get more demanding. But from the reviews It looks like you can split the screen to act as two different screens, would gaming on only half be bad If I was unable to hit 75+ FPS at it's native rez?
This probably doesn't matter but I am also a little concerned about my own field of vision. I was born with lazy eye, had surgery to fix it as an infant and when looking strait ahead you can't tell. But I had my eyes tested when I started driving (about 18yo) and the eye doctor said that I don't have stereoscopic vision. I can see out of both eyes but not at the same time. I know that I'm right eye dominant, and most of the time I switch seamlessly between my right and left eyes. But with my current desk setup I'm 27'' from the screen, would I run into issues with not being able to take in the whole of the 35'' Vast screen?
Also is there a 2K G sync 120hz+ refresh monitor (of smaller size, anything 21''+ is good) that comes close in price/features to the Vast? Or will there be one released before the Vast ships in January?
