Games are awesome!

WARNING - Long post, basically just praising games.

I was watching a video about the new game Cuphead and how difficult it is. It had a great quote that points out one of the best parts about gaming. It really got me thinking about why I enjoy gaming so much.

“We all have the power to be pummelled into the ground yet get back up and succeed. Challenging games like Cuphead offer great life lessons for those willing to listen. One being discipline, patience and the other self confidence”

I know some people might say games are a waste of time because the things you accomplish in them aren’t real. However the feeling of accomplishment, confidence and joy that they can give you is very real. The wonder of exploring a fantastical place. The ah of taking in a beautiful piece of 3D art that you can interact with. The adrenaline that rushes through you during an intense shoot out. Every game carries you through a whole spectrum of emotions. Plus, thanks to multiplayer games, all of these experiences can be shared with your friends. It is for these and many other reasons I will always love games.

Thank you to every developer that dedicated so much time into creating the fun and challenging visual masterpieces I enjoy everyday.

Also I’ve gotta give a shout out to the musicians too. Albums are often no longer then an hour. Movies are a often no more then a couple. Games frequently take tens, often hundreds of hours to complete. Writing music for a games is a daunting and challenging task. Hats of to the musicians that have created the amazing soundtracks to perfectly parallel my digital journeys.

In conclusion, games are awesome. I am grateful that I’ve been able to grow up in this fantastic age of technology and art.
