I was playing Rocket League (send help), and while in game the PC froze, the picture froze and the sound was looping. It was completely unresponsive so I decided to force shutdown by holding my power button. Switching it back on, the tower lights up and the fans start running, I even hear the post beep like I always do, but it doesnt seem to boot into windows. The monitor says that it's searching for a signal. At this point I can't do anything so I press the power button and it immediately switches off. Usually I need to hold the power button to switch off. This tells me something is wrong.
I thought maybe I needed to re-seat the GPU because this exact same thing happened 1 month ago and taking out the GPU, blowing on it, and putting it back fixed the issue. This time it didn't. I went ahead and took out most parts I could, GPU, SSD, alternating between both ram modules one at a time, DVD drive. Same result, the PC starts up but nothing happens. I even took out and reseated the small battery on the motherboard.
At this point I gave up thinking either the motherboard has died or the power supply got fried. My tower is plugged into a 6 way splitter, so maybe it didn't have enough juice, and since the PC is using most power while gaming, maybe the power supply couldnt handle it? Something else I noticed, the tower's plug wasn't all the way in on the splitter, since I had to use an adapter to fit it (splitter takes 3 pin plugs while the tower uses a two pin plug). I don't know if that is important.
So anyway after all this I decided to just plug my laptop into the monitor and use that for the time being, but now I get the same message on the monitor, Searching for signal, even on the laptop. The laptop is working fine, so it seems that the monitor was damaged as well now. I went ahead and tried plugging the PC to my TV and I get the same result as on the monitor, that there is no device attached. This all leads me to believe that both my PC and monitor have died in one fell swoop. Curse my luck.
If you need more info on the parts I will try to find them out, those specs are barely what I remember.
Any ideas what else I can do? I'm resigned to taking it to a shop to diagnose the issue.
Thanks
